Daily Run: A PR

Time of Day: 7:30 AM

Weather: Humid, cloudy, Temps on low 80s

Duration:  1 hour 2 minutes 0 seconds

Distance: 7.5 miles

Average Pace: 8:16/mile

Notes: Today’s run needed to be very easy. I ran long yesterday and didn’t feel well last night, nor did I get enough sleep (again). I was only going to run about 6 miles, but then I added up my weekly mileage in my head and realized that if I ran 7.5 miles I would have exactly 60 miles for the week.

So 7.5 miles it was, and only the first mile sucked. After I warmed up, I continued to run slowly to allow for recovery. I have body parts that are beginning to hurt.

This is the first time I have done 60 miles in a week…ever. Somehow I managed to do it during my first week of work and moving. Actually, it wasn’t difficult–running helps me during transition times by cutting down on my stress a little and allowing me to continue a familiar and enjoyable part of my daily routine. It helped that I moved to the same area as MSB and already had running routes from a year of visiting him on weekends. I was even prepared for the humidity.

Sixty miles down this week and now it’s time for a cutback week again. It got here quickly!  I recently realized that I no longer have to do my long run on the weekend because I don’t have to be at work until 3 pm, so I’m moving it to Mondays. This will free up my weekends for social activities. Also, I don’t have work the day before, so I won’t be on my feet all evening the night before my long run and I will be able to cook a nice bowl of pasta instead of relying on snacks for dinner. So, I’m rearranging my training plan and I’m doing another long run tomorrow, just two days after my 16-miler. However, the cutback week will give me a shorter long run and Tuesday is my new off day, so I think it will be fine.

Congrats on the PR for your weekly mileage! 60 miles? Awesome!
So this will probably sound stalkerish, but I’m about 99% sure I saw you out running this morning while I was finishing up my run. If you saw a girl in a yellowish/greenish top shuffling along down the end of Cambridge, that was me! I did a double/triple take and I’m pretty sure it was you I saw…obviously running much more quickly than me! And if you noticed my double/triple take…sorry for probably looking like a crazy person! Haha!

  • what an awesome running week! doubly impressive since you had so much going on this week. glad your work schedule is allowing your running schedule to work for you
