Lacey wanted to know if I have broken in my new kitchen with some cookies yet. Yes, Lacey, I certainly have, and they were excellent cookies.

MSB’s roommate gave me his extra DVD player and MSB gave me his vacuum cleaner (they have wood floors, not that he would use a vacuum anyway).  To thank them for their generous gifts, I made them chocolate chip cookies using yet another famous chocolate chip cookie recipe. I still have many cookie recipes to try. I don’t think I’ll ever run out.

Anyway, this is the Cooks Illustrated Thick and Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie. Although I sampled plenty of the dough while making these, I didn’t have a baked cookie until a few days ago. Do I have iron willpower? No, I have MSB’s mother giving me German chocolate cake and cupcakes.

I froze a few of the cookies for myself and got one out a few days ago. Even after being in the freezer for a week, it was absolutely delicious. I know I say this about most cookie recipes, but this is one of my new favorites.

MSB agrees and said that this is one of the best cookie recipes I’ve made.

The recipe calls for very big cookies. They spread a bit and get even bigger, so I made the second tray a bit smaller. They are certainly thick and chewy.

I like to use Ghirardelli bittersweet chocolate chips in most of my recipes. They are large chips with great flavor.
