Daily Runs: Weekend Cold Front
Saturday’s Run
Time of Day: 7:20 AM
Weather: Temps in the low 70s. Lovely.
Duration: 1 hour 5 minutes 9 seconds
Distance: 8 miles
Average Pace: 8:08/mile
Notes: Forgive me for not blogging yesterday. I didn’t feel like writing or being on the computer for long, so I didn’t. Instead, I trained a few morning clients, napped, and baked a giant lasagna with MSB (more on that later).
But before I did those things, I went on a pleasant easy run. Last week I decided to let my weekend runs suck so that I could maintain a social life, and once again I got less than 4 hours of sleep on Friday night. Yet, this run did not suck. Must be the lack of a hangover. Yay me for showing restraint.
The weather was gorgeous. I guess we’re having a cold front, because Houston had lower temps and was ever so slightly less humid this weekend. I don’t even think we hit triple digit temps in the afternoons. Trust me, Fall is not here yet. I don’t think we have Fall.
Sunday’s Run
Time of Day: 8:35 AM
Weather: 77*, sunny
Duration: 1 hour 4 minutes 2 seconds
Distance: 8 miles
Average Pace: 8:00/mile
Notes: Getting little sleep on Friday night caused me to sleep past 8 AM this morning, and it was still difficult to drag myself out of bed. I did not want to go running, figuring it would be hot and gross by then. However, I got a nice little surprise when I checked the Weather Channel–the cold front continues!
The sun was still a little hot, but I distinctly remember thinking, “Wow, it’s 9 AM and I’m running and don’t feel like I’m about to die. Yay!”
I felt very good today and ran 8 miles over a minute faster than yesterday. My pace was too fast to be considered a “very easy” run, which is what I was supposed to do today. I’m not concerned because I’m “only” doing 13 miles for my long run tomorrow. It’s my reduced mileage week, which I do not feel like doing this time around but will do anyway to keep myself healthy. I guess my legs are starting to get used to the mileage, because I’m not exhausted yet.

awesome that a cold front moved in! even though running = hangover cure, it’s always nice to start the run without a throbbing head
i definitely run much better on the weekend when i don’t have to get up at the buttcrack of dawn so that i get most of the mileage in before it gets too hot. i hate the cold weather, but i am almost ready to wish for the temps to be mild already, almost.
