Daily Run: Not Feeling It

Time of Day: 6:45 AM

Weather: 54*, 94% humidity, windy, cloudy

Duration:  1 hour 29 minutes 56 seconds

Distance: 11 miles

Average Pace: 8:10/mile

Notes: It rained all day yesterday and all last night.  Heavy rain woke me up several times and made me dread running in the morning.  I am so tired of running in the rain and I knew it would be cool enough this morning to make me cold if there was wind and water.

Luckily, it wasn’t raining when I left to run and although I expected it any second, didn’t rain while I was out there either.  It was great running weather, actually, although apparently no one else thought so since I was practically alone on the trail.  Maybe that’s because the trail was so wet.  I quickly got tired of dodging puddles and just ran right through them.

Even though it didn’t rain, there were more than a few moments during the run when I just wasn’t feeling it.  My speed was fine and nothing hurt, but my stomach felt funny, my feet were soggy, and I was…bored.  I wanted my medium-long run to be over, even though it’s my favorite type of run.

And now I feel bad for wanting my run to be over.  I’m so glad that I can run and being the only person out there splashing through puddles this morning makes me feel special.

I’m about to go do my Shorter Session at the gym before training more clients.  I don’t want to do that either…but I’m glad I can do that too.  Must get out of lazy/bored funk.

  • glad the rain passed through. there’s no worse feeling than laying in bed and knowing that you may potentially have to run in it! sounds like your mind & body are ready for this taper

  • Yeah the rain sucks. I had to run in it yesterday and it wasn’t fun. The worst part is when your shoes get wet. It actually makes my feet hurt lol.

  • Justy2003

Sorry for the “blah” run. We all have days like that though…at least you missed the rain! I waited til after class to run and didn’t end up going til 1:00! Good thing the weather has cooled off :)

  • Yep some runs are like that. Good for you sticking it out…

  • whenever i think about soggy feet when i am NOT running i don’t know how i ever deal with it while i am running. but somehow it always ends up being okay. hmm. hey what are your favorite running socks and sports bras? is that a weird question? lol. i need new of both and get chafing from my sports bras and am just interested in trying different socks.

  • Oh come on. The rain isn’t that bad… :) At least the humidity is coming out of the air, instead of you ahving to hack your way through it with a machete. :)

  • I’ll take running in the rain over humidity anyday! Sorry it wasn’t an enthusiatic run. They happen :(

  • 100% with you on being sick of running in the rain. I dread it too if I wake up in the middle of the night. Sounds like the doctor should prescribe a nice long taper for you. You will come out of the blahs soon!!
