Daily Run: Break

Time of Day: 6:55 AM

Weather: 48*, breezy, sunny

Duration: 1 hour 5 minutes 2 seconds

Distance: 8 miles

Average Pace: 8:08/mile

Notes: My hands were actually cold for a few miles today in a chilly wind, but Thanksgiving is a pretty time of year in Texas and I found myself thinking about how much easier it is to run in this weather.  I did 8 miles again.  Cranky acted up a bit, but I can feel soreness in the muscles around it and I think I just need to do some rolling out.  Also, I think I need to run slower this week.  I found myself easily doing a few miles under 8 minute pace and I think I should slow down until next week.

Speaking of next week, I want to start training for Houston.  I don’t have much time and need to start doing long runs and speedwork again.  I’m feeling pretty good, so maybe I’ll try a 10-miler in a few days and see if I’m recovered enough to do a long run on Monday.

After I ran today I got in the car and drove to my parents’ house in the suburbs of Austin.  I get to run on my old friendly trail tomorrow and Friday and I’m looking forward to it.  I’m also looking forward to having a break from work.  Haven’t had a day off since last Sunday when I ran the marathon!

Are you cooking tomorrow?  We’re doing potluck style.  I’ll help my mom do the turkey, but I made hummus before I left to serve as an appetizer.  Not exactly a Thanksgiving food.  Have a great holiday!
