Daily Run: Cold Rain

Time of Day: 7:05 AM

Weather: 45*, breezy, raining

Duration: 1 hour 10 minutes 9 seconds

Distance: 8.5 miles

Average Pace: 8:15/mile

Notes: I woke up before my alarm and felt much better this morning, but didn’t get up.  I could hear the rain outside and knew it wouldn’t be a warm rain.  I set my alarm for later and tried to go back to sleep, hoping the rain would stop soon.

But I couldn’t go back to sleep.  I wanted to get up and I wanted to go running–I just didn’t want to run in the cold rain.  I got up and looked outside and it didn’t look bad, so I decided to just go anyway.

It wasn’t as awful as I expected, although it was uncomfortable when the wind picked up.  I had the popular running trail to myself, so I only had to dodge puddles instead of people.

The rain all but stopped after a few miles, but then picked up again on my way home.  I got really cold in that last half mile, which I only added to round out my 12.5 miles from yesterday.  It didn’t matter by then because I was almost done and most of the run was nice.  I ran a perfect recovery pace without feeling too slow.

Does anyone else feel like they have tons to do right now?  Work is going to be really busy until I leave from home on the 23rd–I’m working this weekend, a double on Monday, and fitting in my 20-miler on Tuesday morning.  Hope I get to bake Christmas cookies!
