Daily Run: Merry Christmas!

Time of Day: 7:35 AM

Weather: 28*, 20* wind chill, sunny

Duration: 1 hour 42 minutes 9 seconds

Distance: 12 miles

Average Pace: 8:31/mile

Notes: Yes, I did get a medium-long run done before we started our Christmas.  It’s nice when the youngest child in the house is 20 years old and most of the family sleeps late.  I was a bit annoyed to wake up and discover a wind chill of 20*, because that is not why I live in Texas.  Once I got started though, I was comfortable in my long sleeves and tights.  It was sunny and pretty and a wonderful (but still slow…) start to my Christmas.

It’s my family’s first Christmas together in 4 years.  It was just my immediate family for presents and turkey, but in a few hours we’re going to visit some extended family.  Tomorrow is the flight to Michigan to visit my grandparents.  I’m glad today’s run was cold because it’s helping ease me into it.  I will be running there, but probably not blogging.  I don’t think internet has reached Michigan.  Tomorrow we leave for the airport at 7 AM, so I will get up around 4:30 AM to do a run shorter run.  I would rather get up that early than not run or try to run later in the day in Michigan.

I’m going to write some posts to be published while I’m gone because I have to catch you up with all my holiday baking.  I was going to take a baking hiatus in January, but I got new measuring spoons in my stocking.  Score!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas! First Christmas together in 4 years? Wow! Must be nice to all be together again!
Hope you enjoy your Michigan trip. My runs in Ohio have definitely been colder than Texas. Luckily I got some tights and more long-sleeved running tops for Christmas that I can try out. And a Garmin…finally! :)

  • I’m glad your family could be together for Christmas…I know what it’s like to be missing people on the holidays, so it’s extra special when everyone is together. :) When my brother was in Iraq, we hung his picture where his stocking would normally go.

Enjoy Michigan! Hopefully it’s not too chilly for you!

  • nice runs over the holiday break! i’ve definitely been using the “relax” excuse… hope you had a nice visit with all the family, i’m sure it was extra nice to have everyone together again!
