Daily Run: Freedom to Stay Dry
Time of Day: 7:30 AM
Weather: 52*, overcast, drizzling, very windy
Duration: 57 minutes 49 seconds
Distance: 7 miles
Average Pace: 8:15/mile
Notes: I woke up to the sound of rain, turned off my alarm, and dozed on and off for an extra 30 minutes. It’s so nice to have the freedom to do that now. Last year I would have had to get up and run in cold rain. By the time I got up the rain was just a drizzle. I was surprised when I turned on the Weather Channel and it was 52*. The rain would not be as cold as I thought.
The wind, however, was incredibly strong. I ran over the bayou and almost got knocked into the street by a gust. 52* was our high temperature for the day. The wind has blown in new weather and it’s about 35* and still falling now.
I felt very lucky to get in my short, easy run this morning. It’s my first run in under an hour in a long time. The 7 miler I did in Michigan took me forever as I slogged along over ice. My legs were slow and tired at first, but warmed up to a sub-8:00 pace for the last mile. They just need a little more rest and a lot of rolling out. I did that for a long time today and there were lumps all over the place.
Yes, a Daily Run post today because I didn’t have much else to talk about. I’ll just change things occasionally.
Tomorrow’s run might be a little later because I need to cheer for MSB’s alma mater tonight. Go ‘Horns!

It’s so nice that you have the option of easing into the run (waiting out bad weather)! Glad you are feeling better.
great run although i’m wicked jealous of your 52* weather. i need to move to texas
Lucky! I ran seven miles through about a foot of snow and it was 20 degrees, with snow falling on my face the whole time! The trail was very pretty though, so I can’t really complain
